Infections are one of the biggest nemesis of the human body. Viruses and bacteria can enter the human body in different ways and can then cause havoc inside. While the human body has an entire system to deal with infections, the immune response usually causes the human body to grow weak and show symptoms of illness as well. The thing with infections are that they are normally contagious and human-to-human transmission allows them to multiply with great ease. Idle infection is an infection game that promises interesting gameplay all around the subject of infections and pandemics. The infection game starts with a nice tutorial of how the game proceeds and what you need to be doing in order to advance your prospects. You are initially introduced with the goals of the game. You are an infection czar with the goal to infect as many people as possible with as many infectious diseases as possible. In order to achieve your goal, you need to start with a particular infection and aim at causing enough infections that it starts spreading on its own. You can then continue to unlock new infections that you can unleash on the human population. The tutorial is fast-paced though and it takes to get accustomed with the very high pace nature of the game. You would probably not understand all aspects of the game during the tutorial but if you would persist with the game for a bit, you will figure out how to increase infections and how to unlock newer infections.

The infection game has five tabs with the middle tab being the most important. You start with just a runny nose as the main infection. You need 1 virus and 10 infections in order to infect one individual. While the speed of the reproduction of virus is controlled by the game, you would have to tap on the runny nose section to introduce enough runny nose infections that you can cause one human to get infected. When you get a certain number of runny nose infections, you unlock other infections like angina, cough, bloating and constipation. With time, you can upgrade these infections to make them self-propagating i.e. they continue to grow on their own without requiring you to tap on their icons every time. You can also increase their speeds of reproduction and their ability to cause humans harm as well. The more infections you unlock, the greater the biohazard level would become and the greater the population you will be able to target.

The other tabs of the infection game include the "Virus" tab through which you can increase the reproduction rate of the different viruses. You can also use the "Infection Acceleration" tab to increase the rate of infection. There is a great dig at anti-vaxxers in this section as you get the increase in infection due to anti-vaxxer grants. The "Microbes" tab shows you your collection of microbes with each microbe capable of upgradation and coming with its own set of qualities for specific diseases and infections. The "Shop" section is for buying in-game items through your own currency in order to increase the speed at which you would progress in the game.
The overall storyline and gameplay is fine with a great amount of infections available that need to be unlocked. The great variety means that you do not get bored while the capability of the game to keep running in the background means that the game keeps progressing even if you don't play it all the time. The graphics are simple and minimalistic though the design looks a bit old and jaded and has some room for improvement.
